Fuel Cells Research
Fuel Cells Research is a
branch of the
NSF
Industry/University Cooperative Research Center (I/UCRC) for Fuel Cells.
The Center is located in the
Department Chemical Engineering in the Swearingen Engineering
Center at
The University of South Carolina. The
University of South Carolina is located in the capital city of Columbia.
Fuel Cells Research is focused on the integrated study of fuel cells
used for electrochemical power sources. Fuel Cells may be selected as the
future power source for automobiles and residential and commercial.
Mission
The mission o f
our Fuel Cells Research is to promote and support the origin of a
fuel cell industry by providing technological leadership with a vigorous
program of research, development and demonstration. By serving as a locus
for academic talent of the highest caliber and a non-profit site for the
objective evaluation and improvement of industrial products, our goal is
to become a primary leader for the advancement of fuel cell
technology.
By supporting
industrial research and development, creating partnerships with State and
Federal agencies, and overcoming key technical obstacles to fuel
cell utilization, the Fuel Cells Research can become an invaluable
technological incubator for the fuel cell industry.
