Research Interests

Fuel Cells Research  focuses on both experimental and numerical studies to help fuel cell industries and researchers understand fuel cell technology better and to incorporate our research findings into product improvement. With our experience in experimental techniques and accurate numerical tools, the variety of fuel cell investigations can be designed to meet the need of technology enlargement.

Experimental study

Fuel Cells Research has focused on the study of various aspects of performance characteristics, including water and heat management and the understanding of the reaction mechanism of impurity gases poisoning on the membrane catalyst. Experiments are preformed to find optimum operating conditions and to further examine and improve simulations. Mathematical models that simulate the behavior of this process are being developed. By comparing the numerical models with the experimental data, the important parameters in the fuel cell operations are determined.

Numerical Study

Fuel Cells Research also concentrates on numerical analyses in  fuel cells to increase the understanding of physics inside the system. These studies have included 1-D theoretical mathematical models to 3-D Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) simulations. By using the experimental data validation, we can develop and improve our model to be more consistent with increased accuracy. These procedures and techniques will lead to the improvement of fuel cells technology.
