Ionic liquids (IL)  are non-flammable organic salts.  Ionic liquids are used as a solvent for catalytic and synthetic purposes.  IL's are also good electrolytes for electrochemical reactions.  Some advantages of IL are optimization of compound characteristics and replacement of volatile organic compounds.

My current research consists of the development of an on-line process to measure the concentration of polychlorinated hydrocarbons in ionic liquids.
