Southeast Missouri State University, 1961 Research InterestsDr. Thompson's current research interests include the study of congnition in the context of the small-group environment of the Research Communications Studio. There communications are practiced and studied as a means of thinking and researching abilities. She is particularly interested in studying visual and graphical communications as they help to further undergraduate researchers' cognitive maps of themselves as researchers and the content of their research studies. TeachingDr. Thompson's recent teaching experiences include small-group teaching in the English Department's Writing Studio, the Teaching of Writing for future secondary English teachers, Research in Written communication for graduate students in Composition and Rhetoric, and writing courses including Advanced Writing and Academic and Professional Writing. For the past two summers, she has taught Professional Development Seminars for Russian and Kazakh teachers of English and American Studies with the English Program for Internationals. She is interested in international teaching experiences, such as her short-course on teaching writing at North Kazakhstan State University in June, 2002.
