SEAGEP Fellowships
As part of SEAGEP, USC has funding available for the next 5 years to offer
ten fellowships per year for minority PhD students in a science or math discipline.
BENEFITS: In addition to involvement in the opportunities available to all
students, fellowship recipients will receive stipends, tuition waivers, travel
assistance, and materials/supplies support. These students will also attend
regularly scheduled meetings with program managers in order to monitor student
progress and foster a community feeling among group members.
ELIGIBILITY:
- Enrollment in a USC PhD STEM program
- U.S. citizen or permanent resident from an underrepresented minority group
- Commitment to a career in academia in a STEM field
Students must be entering or in the 1st or 2nd year of a participating science or
math PhD program. For a list of participating departments
APPLICATION PROCESS: Fellowship recipients will be selected through a competitive
application process. Applications MUST be submitted through a department due to
funding commitments required with the application. This means that students
interested in receiving a fellowship should contact their advisor to discuss this
opportunity. Faculty AND students are welcome to contact us
with questions.
APPLICATION PACKET: Applications must contain the following:
- A complete student data form in Microsoft Word,
or, Adobe PDF
- Copies of graduate and undergraduate transcripts
- A four-year funding plan signed by the Department Chair
- A personal statement written by the student discussing their research
experience and commitment to an academic career
- A letter of recommendation from the student's major advisor or the
Department's graduate director
DUE DATE: Applications for the 2006-2007 academic year are due JULY 15, 2006.
