Vijay joined Professor Weidner's group in the fall of 2001 and worked on the membrane and catalyst durability aspects of Proton Exchange Membrane Fuel Cells [PEMFCs]. His graduate research at USC involved studying the adsorption, desorption and electro-oxidation kinetics of carbon monoxide [CO] and hydrogen sulfide [H2S] on composite solid polymer electrolyte Pt  [SPE-Pt] electrodes.

Between June 2005 and May 2006, he was part of the Durability Group in UTC Power, South Windsor, CT. Specifically, he was involved in DOE's High Temperature Membrane & Catalyst program and studied the effects of humidity on the durability of PEMFCs at elevated temperatures.

He graduated in Fall 2006 and is currently a postdoctoral fellow at the Environmental Energy Technology Division in Berkeley Lab and is part of the BATT program.
